Abstract

In order to develop the nation's future generation, character education is essential. However, there are still many teachers who are less concerned with instilling character values in their students. The impact of this condition is the degradation of students' character, one of which is independent character. Therefore, the role of teachers is needed in the formation of students' independent character dimensions through the Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P3). This study aims to explore more deeply the role of teachers and the obstacles experienced in the process of forming students' independent character dimensions at SD IT Avicenna Lasem. This study uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive design. Data were collected using non-participant observation techniques and semi-structured interviews with four teachers and the principal. This research was also accompanied by documentation. The results of the study indicate that the role of teachers in forming independent character dimensions by playing the role as teachers, educators, role models, learning resources, facilitators, motivators, guides, and evaluators both directly and indirectly. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors for the role of teachers in forming students' independent character dimensions include student heterogeneity in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects as well as incentive guidance for students with special needs.
