INTEGRASI PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER DALAM KURIKULUM MADRASAH IBTIDAIYAH BERBASIS KEARIFAN LOKAL

Character education based on local wisdom has a high urgency in shaping the moral and cultural identity of students, especially in the Eastern Indonesia region which is rich in local values. This study aims to explore the form of integration of character education based on local wisdom in the curriculum of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI), as well as identify implementation challenges and strengthening strategies. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, data is collected by observation, interview, and document analysis methods. Data was collected from several MIs in Eastern Indonesia, namely MI Muhammadiyah Tomi-Tomi, MI Muhammadiyah Melati, and MI Nurul Ikhlas Ambon, then analyzed using thematic techniques. The results of the study show that character education based on local wisdom has been integrated through PAI subjects in every school, extracurricular activities, and teacher examples. However, the main challenges in its implementation include lack of parental involvement, limited human resources, and lack of adequate facilities. To overcome this, strengthening strategies are suggested in the form of contextual curriculum development, continuous training for teachers, and increased collaboration with the local community. These findings confirm that the integration of character education based on local wisdom plays a significant role in the formation of students' character and the preservation of cultural values. It is suggested that there be a stronger synergy between schools, educators, parents, and the community to increase the effectiveness of the program in a sustainable manner.
